Aloha, our first day started strong, with a good b-fast and excitement. The trees, the mountains, the views were amazing and it felt like WOW bigger then life, and did I already say amazing.
And then all the sudden you go around a corner and there it is the lake, something I’ve (we’ve) wanted to see for a long time.

Just a little more down the hill and there we are in South Lake Tahoe. I’m not sure why we didn’t take more pic’s while we were driving through, except for we had a lot to see and soak in.
Now it’s time to go to Carson City and get something to eat. What can I say, Carson City is flat, and hot. So we got something to eat started down this main road and right in the middle of town we saw green grass and interesting old buildings and some government buildings.
It didn’t take long to get out of Carson City, Then onto Virginia City. There was a bike rally of the Blue Knights who are law enforcement people, so we felt protected. Lots of old history big time mining town. Me posing by some old wagon train wheels. And how about my cowboy Craig trying on some hats…
We spent the night in Reno. Kind of run down. Stayed at Harrah Resorts for $59.00 and lost about $100.00 in the slots but it was fun.
Then on the way back to Lake Tahoe a small town called Truckee spent maybe 10 minutes there, just drove through.
Further down is Squaw Valley where they held 1960 winter Olympics. It still is a ski resort. You could still see where the athletes stayed while there, pretty cool.
After Squaw Valley we drove down to the top or North side of Lake Tahoe I think there is over 70 miles of beach and shore line around the Lake. Then we continued down the west side back to Pollock Pines. We stopped to stretch at a couple of beaches. The views were awesome. It was all good seeing it for our first time. We could see ourselves staying or camping in and around the Lake next time. So much to explore.
I love seeing your photos as you go along! Martha
